Heathcliff Speaks

these poems will take you to a world which has been forgotten, which still finds meaning in things. they will take you to that time when passion was everything, & humans were not so disillusioned as they are today.

these are archaic poems. the kind which have been relegated to history. we don’t read & write & appreciate such poems. they are, of course, about love, & are often meditations of a poet who seems to be from the Victorian age.

you would find music in them. & word play. & that worshipping the beloved kind of quality often associated with the romantic poets. you would not like them. you would say, the poems have been written by a child, who is still living in the hopes of love, something the contemporary world in its maturity doesn’t believe in.

so, it’s better not to read them.

I am making them public to keep that part of me alive, which I want to discard. that’s the best we can do with our poems, anyway.
